Three-Point Percentage (3P%)(3P%)

Percentage of made shots from beyond the three-point arc out of all three-point attempts.

Three-Point Percentage isolates shooting success from beyond the arc. It has become one of the most watched stats in modern basketball thanks to the three-point explosion since the 2010s.

An elite shooter hits above 40% from deep. Between 35% and 40%, you're a reliable shooter. Below 33%, volume becomes hard to justify because the expected points per shot falls below the average two-point attempt.

Always read 3P% in the context of volume. Someone shooting 45% on 2 attempts per game doesn't carry the same weight as a guard shooting 38% on 9 attempts. Volume and shot difficulty (catch-and-shoot vs pull-up) completely change the interpretation.

HoopsTrackR automatically separates your 2-point and 3-point stats to isolate this percentage.

Formula

3P% = (3PM / 3PA) × 100

Real example

A shooter who makes 4 three-pointers on 10 attempts has a 3P% of 40%.
