Rebounds Per Game (RPG)(RPG)

Average rebounds grabbed by a player per game, combining offensive and defensive boards.

Rebounds Per Game measure total boards grabbed after a missed shot, whether offensive (after your team's miss) or defensive (after an opponent's miss).

It's a stat tied to position and size. Centers and power forwards logically lead the charts, but some exceptionally skilled rebounding wings (Dennis Rodman, Draymond Green) can keep up.

An NBA center typically averages between 8 and 12 RPG. Above 15 RPG over a season is elite territory. Rodman averaged more than 18 RPG in several 1990s seasons.

Offensive rebounds are especially valuable: they create a second possession for the team, equivalent to forcing an opponent turnover. HoopsTrackR automatically separates your offensive and defensive rebounds.

Real example

A player grabbing 90 rebounds across 9 games averages 10 RPG.
